MSU hosts free lecture on wildlife interactions
MISSISSIPPI STATE – Animal enthusiasts can learn about human-wildlife interactions from an experienced wildlife veterinarian at a free lecture Feb. 6.
The Mississippi State University College of Veterinary Medicine will host guest speaker Dr. Mark Johnson of Global Wildlife Resources as part of the college’s Human-Animal Bond Lecture Series.
Johnson’s presentation, “Care, honor, and respect for every animal: a perspective on wildlife and feral animals,” is also supported by Wildlife Exotic Zoo Avian and Aquatic Medicine.
The lecture will be from noon-1 p.m. in the Wise Center’s large auditorium. Guests are invited to attend a reception immediately after the presentation.
Johnson has served as Yellowstone National Park’s wildlife veterinarian. He has also provided field assistance around the world, from Native American tribal lands to the Caribbean and Puerto Rico. He helped with domestic animal rescue in New Orleans after Hurricane Katrina. As an affiliate faculty member at the University of Montana, he has taught courses for the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service’s National Conservation Training Center.
