Roberts tree farm hosts 50th Alliance field day
WINONA, Miss. -- The Alliance for Sustainable Agricultural Production will hold its 50th field day Dec. 9 at Roberts Farm in Winona.
David Nagel, Mississippi State University Extension Service horticulture specialist, and Jeff Wilson, Extension regional horticulture specialist, will discuss crop selection, seed acquisition and winter fruit crop activities. Vickie Roberts will share her journey from pharmaceutical sales representative to fourth-generation owner of her family's farm.
Roberts Farm, a Certified Tree Farm, was recently selected as Mississippi's agroforestry specialty crop demonstration site by the U.S. Department of Agriculture.
The field day is free, but preregistration is required. On-site check-in begins at 10 a.m. The program begins at 10:30 a.m. and ends at 2:30 p.m. Roberts Farm is located at 493 Bluff Springs Road in Winona.
Alliance field day partners and sponsors include the MSU Extension Service, Mississippi Agricultural and Forestry Experiment Station, Alcorn State University Extension Program, University of Mississippi Transactional Law Clinic, National Center for Appropriate Technology, Mississippi Department of Agriculture and Commerce, and Mississippi Department of Education.
