Alliance to host training for beginning growers, ranchers
BEAUMONT, Miss. – Challenges facing new farmers and ranchers will be the focus of a field day at the Mississippi State University Beaumont Horticultural Unit.
The Alliance of Sustainable Farms will host “Production, Financial, Marketing and Food Safety Issues” April 26. In addition to highlighting ongoing research at the horticultural unit, this training will be the first in a series geared toward farmers and ranchers.
There is no cost to attend the field day, and lunch is included, but preregistration is required. Onsite check-in begins at 8 a.m. The program begins at 9 a.m. and ends at 4 p.m. To register for the field day, email [email protected].
The MSU Beaumont Horticultural Unit is located at 478 Highway 15 between the towns of Beaumont and Richton. It is directly across the road from Union Baptist Church.
The Alliance of Sustainable Farms is partnering with the MSU Extension Service, Alcorn State University and the Mississippi Small Farm and Agribusiness Center for the training program.
Alliance field day partners and sponsors include the Mississippi State University Extension Service, Mississippi Agricultural and Forestry Experiment Station, Alcorn State University Extension Program, University of Mississippi Transactional Law Clinic, National Center for Appropriate Technology, Mississippi Department of Agriculture and Commerce, and Mississippi Department of Education.
