STARKVILLE, Miss. -- The Mississippi State University Extension Service is offering weekly training on disaster preparation for the food and agricultural sectors.

Each Tuesday in September and each Thursday in October, Extension will offer a weekly, one-hour webinar designed to provide education and resources for producers and processors seeking information on disaster preparedness for food production and processing operations.

These sessions are for agricultural producers, food processors, retail food establishments, cottage food operations and anyone else who owns or is interested in owning an ag-based business.

The sessions began Sept. 8 by covering emergency action plans and then covered food recall and traceability plans on Sept. 15. The topic for Sept. 22 is crisis communication planning, with financial preparedness and risk management being covered Sept. 29. These sessions will repeat the first four Thursdays of October.

Each online video workshop webinar begins at 11 a.m. Interaction with speakers is possible during the webinars and follow-up assistance can be provided to those interested.
